Leaders 4 LifeTake Stock in Children is proud to introduce the Leaders 4 Life (L4L) Fellowship program, a new transformational role model program aimed at taking today's at-risk Florida youth and converting them into tomorrow's leaders. The mission of the Leaders 4 Life (L4L) Fellowship program is to enable highly motivated Take Stock in Children scholars, that have demonstrated strong leadership skills, moral character and academic success, to excel in a university environment by providing them with the tools and resources necessary to empower them to develop their full potential as leaders for life. The ultimate goal is to eliminate the financial burdens normally associated with a university education and allow the fellows to devote 100% of their attention to their studies and personal development.
Take Stock in Children’s Leaders 4 Life (L4L) Fellowship was created in partnership with the Asofsky Family Foundation to provide financial resources, services and support needed to ensure student success throughout college. The fellowship will provide a minimum of five students annually who are already enrolled in Take Stock in Children with funds for housing, meal plans, computers, books, supplies, other college-related expenses and internship opportunities.
“These life-changing fellowships represent a significant chapter in the history of Take Stock in Children and further exemplify our commitment to improve college enrollment and retention for our scholars,” said Richard Berkowitz, State Board Chair of Take Stock in Children. “By eliminating all financial concerns, these students will be able to focus solely on their education and embrace the college experience on the path to success.”
A minimum of five high school seniors currently enrolled in the Take Stock in Children program will be awarded the Leaders 4 Life (L4L) Fellowship during the organization’s annual state conference slated for February 15, 2011 in Tallahassee, Florida. The recipients will be highly motivated scholars who will be selected based on their demonstration of strong leadership skills, moral character and academic success.
